IPL 2021 Venue Update: From the past some days with the Corona cases increased in India again, the Indian Board of Control of Cricket (BCCI) is in doubt about hosting the upcoming 14th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) in India. According to the resources from the cricket board, the Corona situation is changing with every passing day and they may have moved the tournament outside of India once again.
BCCI Official Arun Dhamal stated that Indian Cricket is monitoring the situation deeply and we will decide soon When and where will IPL 2021 be held. BCCI is still in doubt.
“We are still in a dicey situation due to the increase in COVID-19 cases” he told
ICC, The International Cricket Council has assigned the April May window for the IPL 2021 However, BCCI has not yet decided the dates and venues for the tournament. Arun Dhumal said that the final decision about the IPL 2021 Venue will be taken after the completion of India England Test Series.
“We will finalise the dates after the India vs England test series, currently we don’t have definite answers” Dhumal said
On Being asked what are the possibilities of IPL 2021 taking place at a single venue Dhumal said that they will explore all possibilities. He also said that the broadcaster will need at least a month’s time to prepare for IPL 2021 execution that is why we will take the decision as soon as possible. If BCCI decides to shift IPL 2021 outside of India, there is a strong possibility that it will be moving to the United Arab Emirates like it did in 2020.
There is a strong possibility IPL might move back to UAE if the second-wave worsens in India. “Let’s see what happens, we are monitoring the situation,” Dhumal said.
Recently, from the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy, three players tested positive for Covid-19. A player from Maharashtra, Bihar, and Himachal Pradesh tested positive for the Covid-19 and this situation is very alarming for the BCCI and the cloud of uncertainty looming over IPL 2021 in India.
