HCA offers Stadium to Set Up Isolation Center due to Coronavirus Outbreak

The hope for IPL in 2020 is alive. We have seen news about IPL for couple of months. UAE, UK and Sri Lanka offered to host IPL in their country. This week Brijesh Patel the Governing Council chairman announced that the IPL 2020 will be played in UAE but on two conditions.

Condition 1: IPL hope is tied with the postponement of T20 World Cup. ICC officially announced the cancellation of T20 World Cup. It seems the first condition is already met.

Condition 2: To host the IPL 2020 in UAE, Indian Govt permission is required. The Indian Cricket Board is in contact with Indian Govt to make it possible. There is some time required for standard procedure. T20slam will update you after the govt decision.

CoronaVirus is becoming more severe with every passing day all over the world resulting in the cancellation of many big sports events. IPL 2020 is already delayed to 15 April and if the Covid – 19 situation remains the same. It is possible that there will be no IPL this season. Over 600 confirmed CoronaVirus cases have been confirmed in India till today. In this intense situation,  The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) offered the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium (RGIS) in Uppal, to be set up as an isolation center, to the government for the treatment of coronavirus patients. This step also conveys a clear message that there will be no new season of Indian Premier League. As the Uppal Stadium has 40 large rooms and a big parking place, it is an ideal place to set up an isolation center.

HCA secretary R Vijayanand wrote a letter to chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao that 40 big rooms in RGIS could accommodate corona patients easily.

“In tune with your commitment and passion in implementing the measures, I, on behalf of HCA president Mohd Azharuddin, and the members of the Apex Council, would like to offer the facility of the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Uppal to set up isolation centers.”

He further talked about the seriousness of that global issue and the need for associations to come forward and help each other to tackle it.

“This we feel is the moral obligation on our part in this hour of crisis as there are 40 big rooms which can take care of some of the virus-affected patients… With a lot of parking space, we feel it would be appropriate on our behalf to make this token gesture of appreciation of your efforts… We will be more than happy to be at your service in this grim battle against the virus which has become a global threat.”

Then he praised all the employees and office-bearers of HCA for leading from the front in their battle against the virus.

“In the first instance we, all the office-bearers and members of the Hyderabad Cricket Association, sincerely appreciate the way you are leading from the front in battlin on the dreaded coronavirus.”

“It is an undeniable fact that Telangana has been in the forefront and setting an example for others to follow the measures to curb the menace on a war-footing by the way as the Chief Minister has been taking the steps even before others could think off.”
Cricket and other sports in the world are facing hard times due to this Corona outbreak.England’s tour of Sri Lanka, South Africa’s tour of India, New Zealand’s tour of Australia, HBL PSL 2020 and IPL 2020 getting cancelled or delayed. IPL’s fate is not sure also. Every Sports activity in all countries has been stopped to tackle the situation.
