Today is a bad day for IPL franchise Mumbai Indians (MI) as IPL’s most successful bowler Lasith Malinga has withdrawn from the tournament.
Sri Lankan pacer has requested that he is unavailable to the Indian Premier League 2020 season due to personal problems and he wants to spend his time with family back in Sri Lanka.
Indian Premier League franchise Mumbai Indians (MI) has replaced Malinga with Aussie pacer James Pattinson for Dream11 IPL 2020.
Young Australian speedstar, Pattinson is going to join MI camp in Abu Dhabi this weekend.
Akash Ambani, the owner of Mumbai Indians (MI) greeted young pacer and showed full support to Malinga “ James is the right fit for us and adds to our pace attack options available at hand especially for the conditions we will play in this season in UAE,” he told in a press release.
Lasith is a legend and a pillar of MI’s strength. There is no denying the fact that we will miss Lasith’s cricketing acumen this season. However, we fully understand Lasith’s need to be in Sri Lanka with his family during this time.
“Mumbai Indians are founded on the values of ‘One Family’ and for us the members of our squad and their wellbeing will always hold utmost importance,” he added. “We welcome James to our One Family.”
Mumbai Indians (MI) also welcomed James Pattinson by posting on microblogging website Twitter:
37 year old Mailnga has grabbed 170 wickets in IPL so far and he is the leading wicket taker in IPL. In IPL 2019, he played a key role in MI’s fourth IPL title win.
Losing Malinga just before the start of Indian Premier League 2020 season is a great trouble for Mumbai Indians (MI).
