IPL 2020 Schedule Update: Chennai Super Kings will not play the opening game of IPL 2020

Indian Premier League (IPL) and Chennai Super Kings are facing their worst time after reaching the United Arab Emirates for IPL 2020. More than dozen CoronaVirus positives in the staff including one bowler and today Chennai Super Kings also lost their Man of Crisis Chinna Thala aka Suresh Raina returned back to India due to some personal reasons and will not be available for the entire IPL 2020 season in UAE.

Because of these unfortunate incidents, CSK led by Mahindra Singh Dhoni will not play the opening game of IPL 2020. Chennai Super Kings was scheduled to play Mumbai Indians in the first match of the 2020 IPL according to the earlier released IPL schedule by BCCI.

Opening match of IPL 2020 UAE was about to play between two most successful teams CSK and MI but now according to the sources, BCCI has changed the schedule to give more time to MS Dhoni led CSK to reconsider their playing XI for the tournament. 

Now, due to positive CoronaVirus patients in CSK staff and team, the team will be in under complete quarantine for the next 6 days and can’t resume practice until all of the players test negative after completion of the quarantine period. Also some of CSK team players are playing CPL 2020 nowadays and can only join the team after completion of 6-day quarantine in Dubai on either 17 or 18th August.

This is the main reason that the CSK team will not show up in the opening game of Indian Premier League 13th edition against Mumbai Indians. 

“They will now not be in a position to contest the opening game of the IPL 2020. We will give CSK few more days to come out of this setback”, Stated one of the BCCI official

Also BCCI decided to delay the Dream11 IPL 2020 Schedule further to the first week of September. 

“Adequate measures are in place to tackle the situation and there is no immediate threat to the tournament. But the announcement of fixtures has been delayed because of this development,” added by BCCI official
